One Spa at Shutters on the Beach
I made an appointment at this spa upon recommendations from friends. I booked far in advance because I heard it can be hard to get the time you want if you don't. It's too bad I don't live in Los Angeles, otherwise, this would be my most frequented spa. My friend gets body scrubs here and recommended I try that and a facial. It was an amazing experience. Afterwards, she and I went for dinner right in Santa Monica to finish off the perfect day.

Red Door Spa
I'm not a huge Red Door fan. I've been to far too many that were under par. It's surprising, really. It's not that the spas I have visited are particularly bad, it's just the service is typically average and the staff nothing extraordinary. That being said, I was pleased with my massage and facial while up in White Plains for the week for work. Not my first choice, but when it's so conveniently close, it's worth the visit.

Chopra Center & Spa at Dream
The ambiance was very zen and relaxing. But the facial was not my cup of tea. When I pay for a facial, I expect full extractions, especially when there is obviously areas that need extraction. I did walk away relaxed (a massage was a part of the facial), but I would have been even more pleased had I walked out with perfectly clear skin.

Don't take my word for it - maybe this is the type of facial you would appreciate (if you like a more gentle facial).

BABOR at Takashimaya
So this spa is different in that they are not a full service spa - they don't offer an array of different treatments. I would say they probably give one of the best facials in NYC. Everything seemed professional and immaculate. It IS a Japanese spa, so it's no wonder they try to make sure everything is the best of the best.

Butterfly Garden Spa
A friend had a bridal party here. I must admit that I was ready to be less than impressed (yes, I am a NYC snob), but I was pleasantly surprised! I enjoyed the VIP treatment room and the ambiance of the place. The staff went way above and beyond to make sure we had an enjoyable experience. I loved the flowers and candles... although I do hope that they are being environmentally friendly in their usage of plants as decoration. I would definitely recommend this spa if i can't get to my favorites in NYC.

LATHER Spa
I'm sorry, but have you ever tried to book an appointment with this spa? What a joke! On hold for 5-10 minutes! I even tried calling back to see if maybe it was an oversight. I'll tell you what - a spa that puts someone on hold for this long- I would HATE to see what kind of customer service I'd get in person. The first impression is when you call for an appointment. Maybe if the girl would have apologized and sounded a bit concerned instead of just clunking me on hold. Sorry, but this spa junkie ain't going to go to this spa EVER!

Red Door Spa
I wasn't blown away by my experience at this spa. It was a good experience. I got a solid facial and massage - no complaints here! I've been to a couple Red Doors and... something about these spas feel a bit corporate or ... removed to me. I did enjoy my time here, but I prefer the personality of other spas. If I'm going for corporate, it is going to be super luxury corporate... but all in all, I'd say this was a good experience.

refresh, a day spa
I visited this spa on a recent trip to San Francisco. I really must say that this spa is a delight. The staff is friendly and helpful and it was a nice getaway from my busy week of travelling. I got a massage and a pedicure. I don't typically like to get massages from men (just feel more comfortable with females massaging me) , but the man that gave me a massage was excellent. I highly recommend this place - I would go back again if I am in SF.

Sava Spa
My friend and I had a great time here. We both got a pedicure and manicure. Unfortunately, we did not try any of their body treatments or facials, but I definitely have it on my agenda to do that. The staff was nice and helpful. Really no complaints. When I go for a body treatment, I may up it to 4 stars. The ambiance is ok, nothing special, and the location isn't the best. But we both were very happy with the results.

Bliss 57
This is the same review I left for Bliss 49, but I feel the same about both locations:

I would have to say that going to Bliss ... one does not go for a luxury experience, but rather just to simply get the job done efficiently. The prices at Bliss should really reflect their bubbly undertones - I think at those prices, one would expect something a little more .... expensive feeling. I like Bliss, but I wouldn't go here for a "spa experience", if you know what I mean. Actually, to be honest, I don't think I would go back because there are other options at that same price that are much more aesthetically pleasing to me.

77 Maiden Lane Salon & Spa
I swear it's not because I am a NYC snob! I just felt that it was quaint, it was nice, but it was far from Stellar! The atmosphere was... quaint, like I said, but it wasn't more than that. The facial was nice, but the man wouldn't stop TALKING! Goodness! The facial room was tiny and I felt like I was in a medical facility. The staff was friendly but not really professional. That being said, I enjoyed my facial and felt like it was a very good one. My pores felt clean and the job got done.

Aria Spa at the Vail Cascade Resort & Spa
This spa is absolutely wonderful. Getting away from the NYC experience was much needed for us and we weren't disappointed by our whole trip. The ambiance of this spa was beautiful and relaxing and QUIET (something wonderful if you live in NYC!). Everyone was professional and it was very clean. We tried a few couples treatments and can't say enough about the facials and massages (hot stone). If you're planning a vacation, this is a place I highly recommend!

Body by Brooklyn
This is actually an interesting experience. The outside of the building and area is very.... unspa like... I can't really explain it. That being said, they have a full bar and a good restaurant. The facials I have gotten have been fantastic. A few times, I was so relaxed I dozed off. I felt that the quality of the services I received was very high. I'm all about ambiance, and I think the ambiance was very nice. Of all the spas I've been to in Brooklyn, this is probably my favorite one.

I am going to have to agree with the other reviewer. I couldn't explain it better myself - about the Starbucks analogy. I would have to say that going to Bliss ... one does not go for a luxury experience, but rather just to simply get the job done efficiently. The prices at Bliss should really reflect their bubbly undertones - I think at those prices, one would expect something a little more .... expensive feeling. Ajune
I must say that I wasn't crazy about the ambiance here. The massage and facial were very good, but it was just so loud and the staff could use some training. I can't explain it exactly, but everything felt a bit scattered and to me... it almost felt like I was in a gym locker room. Since the treatments were good, I would go back, but purely just for the services they offer - I would not consider this a spa I would like to go to for relaxation and for the entire experience.

Alba Day Spa
You can get a very good facial here. I can't remember why I was out in this area, but I was very happy.... I sometimes forget you can find good things out in Brooklyn ;) ... I always tend to go to Manhattan for a facial, but I am very glad I found this gem. It's not say... as professional as some of the spas I love in Manhattan, but the staff is friendly and I walked out feeling veyr pleased.

Acqua Beauty Bar
I hate to say it, but there's nothing special about this spa... I found the staff to be less than professional, the ambiance not that great... the massage very good, but the facial was only ok. This is not what I would consider to be a high end spa, but you may want to check it out yourself. The reason why I would not go back is because when I visit spas, I really want to feel like I am getting a luxury treatment and ambiance and staff professionalism is very important to me.

The Mezzanine Spa
I just love this spa! Everything is so perfect here! The staff is SO wonderful and professional. This spa is a step above the rest. You walk out of this spa knowing that you received exactly the experience that you paid for, and you feel very good about it. I highly recommend getting a package of different treatments to fully experience and enjoy your time there. Probably one of the best spas in New York City.

Chill Spa
This spa gives good facials. It was very relaxing and left my skin feeling soft and supple. I also tried a body scrub, which was very good as well. I was tempted to try a brazilian wax, but I think I will have to save that for another time... one has to be careful with such things ;) . The staff was very nice and helpful. Anyway, it was a very good experience, and I would definitely go back!

Clay Spa
Very excellent massage! I give this spa 4 stars for being excellent! The amenities could be better, but the atmosphere was very relaxing. This spa is in a very convenient location and the staff was very professional. I also got a facial and found that it was very standard - not an out of this world experience, but definitely, it got the job done. I would definitely go back here for a massage.
